DBTune for Rdb

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Provides automated script generation for partial or full database tuning.

  • Provides in-depth control of the tuning process. Takes input for YOUR DATABASE monitored by DBXact for accurate and precise tuning calculations, or allows manual input of parameters at the DBA's discretion.

  • Automates the final tuning process from end-to-end

  • Re-sizes tables, indexes, storage areas,  re-distributes associated RDA and SNP files, recalculates buffer allocation, and performs numerous other tuning functions.

  • Takes into account read/write access, activity level, compression, buffers, expected growth, cardinality, expected future updates to existing records, just to name a few of its capabilities

  • Allows rapid "what-if" scenarios for the tuning process

Rdb Controller provides the necessary tuning and impact analysis functions to improve your end-user response times and maximize your application availability.

Rdb Controller™ performs many  actions to improve application performance and availability. This includes tuning entire or partial databases, re-sizing individual storage areas, sizing indexes, recommending index conversions, and balancing I/O to ensure your applications provide optimal end-user response times and maximum availability for your business functions.

Extensive Tuning Capabilities
Typically improving application performance levels by up to 60%, Rdb Controller provides you with tuning capabilities for your database applications and the supporting database structure. This ensures that you quickly resolve the most common problems with application performance and availability to minimize end-user impact.

Rdb Controller  provides comprehensive database tuning, including full or partial tuning capabilities, I/O tuning, and even provides a post-tuning analysis, so you can view the results of your efforts. Only Rdb Controller  provides this much functionality to improve performance.

Pre-Tuning Parameters
To ensure results are defined and predictable, Rdb Controller enables you to completely control your database tuning process. By adjusting multiple parameters, customizing improvements to your specific applications, and reviewing the results before they are implemented, you can ensure the results are tailored to your specific environment. Input can also be obtained from direct usage measurements of YOUR database by using our DBXact  tool which  helps to take the "guesswork" out of the tuning process.

In-Depth User Analysis
Rdb Controller analyzes application use by "drilling down" to specific storage areas, tables, and indexes. You can view detailed information and analysis on every active user of the application and view information on their and system resource consumption.

Post-Tuning Analysis
Upon the completion of tuning your supporting databases, Rdb Controller enables you to re view your overall results and improvements. You can view information on storage areas, extents, records, and blocks, so you can quickly and effectively identify the improvements you have made to your application and database structure. No other tuning product provides this level of functionality. You can also use our analysis tool DBAnalyzer to create a "post-tune" analysis to gain additional information.

Proactive Database Tuning
Rdb Controller will tune the entire physical structure of your application's database (storage areas, tables, indexes, and records) or simply tune a few tablespaces that require immediate tuning. This includes generating all the necessary tuning scripts, reviewing multiple pre-tuning parameters (growth, extent allocations, etc.), tuning the entire database, placing the correct storage areas on the appropriate disks, and more to ensure maximum application performance levels.

Rdb Controller helps you plan for the growth levels of your databases so you are not continuously reorganizing various storage areas. Rdb Controller  analyzes your current application activity and determines the optimal amount of extent allocations, to ensure your supporting databases are healthy for months. This reduces maintenance requirements and ensures your databases are available when your users need them.

I/O Tuning
Rdb Controller  will also distribute your application's database optimally across your available disks, to ensure your users have the quickest access to their information. This will improve your application response times and enable you to meet your service level objectives.
